My dad went to school there in the ‘70s when they won their first and only men’s basketball national championship. Mine was a little different because I grew up watching Marquette specifically. Anything that I competed in, I thought, “Wouldn’t it be great to play in front of 20,000 fans someday?” I’m sure every kid dreams the same dream. My goal when I was young was to try to go as far as I possibly could and that was football, basketball, track.

To your point, for me, it was always a dream. I know there’s a lot of people that may be reading that had that as a dream to play D1 sports. I want to talk about your career as a D1 basketball player. Before we get into that, I want to welcome John to the show. Rather, it was a raw look into the day-to-day of big-time college sports, the people you meet, and the thousands of hours on the basketball court, which ultimately prepared him for a career that had nothing to do with basketball.
