When I was little, my dad talked about how great Marquette was.
My dad went to school there in the ‘70s when they won their first and only men’s basketball national championship. Mine was a little different because I grew up watching Marquette specifically. Anything that I competed in, I thought, “Wouldn’t it be great to play in front of 20,000 fans someday?” I’m sure every kid dreams the same dream. My goal when I was young was to try to go as far as I possibly could and that was football, basketball, track.
To your point, for me, it was always a dream. I know there’s a lot of people that may be reading that had that as a dream to play D1 sports. I want to talk about your career as a D1 basketball player. Before we get into that, I want to welcome John to the show. Rather, it was a raw look into the day-to-day of big-time college sports, the people you meet, and the thousands of hours on the basketball court, which ultimately prepared him for a career that had nothing to do with basketball. The aim here wasn’t to write a rudy-type story. Back in 2018, John released his first book, Walk-On Warrior.
